The 2012 Bangladesh Premier League was the first season of the Bangladesh Premier League estabileshed by Bangladesh Cricket Board. The season commenced on 9 February with the final played on 29 February. The competition featured six teams and a tournament format with a double round robin group stage, two semi-finals and a final.〔 The inaugural BPL was won by Dhaka Gladiators. The highest wicket taker of the tournament will win the purple cap while the highest run scorer will win the orange cap. Other awards include the best under-19 player award and the Fair Play award given to the team who plays most fairly throughout the tournament. Matches were held in Dhaka and Chittagong. The franchises represented Dhaka, Barisal, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Khulna divisions.
